Simulationcraft

This is a small addon that simplifies the process of generating a Simulationcraft profile for your character. Typing the chat command

/simc

will bring up a text box containing an exported profile for your character. This profile can be copy/pasted into SimC's "Simulate" window or into any text editor and saved as a .simc file.

/simc minimap will toggle the minimap button.

This addon eliminates the need to log in and out repeatedly to update the armory in order to re-import your character through Simulationcraft's GUI, speeding up the process significantly. It also works for situations where the armory isn't available (for example, characters on beta or PTR servers).

The addon should be completely locale-invariant as of v1.2.0. It uses numerical formats for everything that it can (items, glyphs, talents, etc.) and any other fields are hardcoded to use english-client values (professions, specialization, class).

GAME FLAVOUR

This is a WoW Forever build. Forever is its own client family alongside retail and Classic, and a build for one throws Lua errors on the others. Check you are installing into the Forever client.

INTERFACE VERSION

Built against game version 1.60.1. After a patch, an addon that has not been updated is flagged out of date; most keep working, and the "Load out of date AddOns" checkbox on the character screen lets you try.

DEPENDENCIES

Requires LibDBIcon-1.0, Ace3 — install those first; each needs its own Forever build.

1. Quit World of Warcraft completely. The game reads the AddOns folder at launch and will overwrite settings for an addon added while it is running.

2. Download the archive with the button on this page and unzip it. Take the file marked for Forever — the same project also ships builds for retail and the Classic flavours, and they are not interchangeable.

3. Move the folder — the one with the .toc file in it, not the zip's wrapper folder — into:

the WoW Forever client\Interface\AddOns — its own client folder, separate from _retail_ and _classic_ (the beta installed as _classic_beta_)

4. Start the game. On the character selection screen, click AddOns and check that it is listed and enabled.

IF IT DOES NOT APPEAR

Nine times out of ten the folder is nested one level too deep. Interface/AddOns/Thing/Thing/Thing.toc will not load; Interface/AddOns/Thing/Thing.toc will.

UPDATING

Delete the old folder before unzipping the new one. Unzipping over the top leaves files behind that the new version no longer expects.
