Better Fishing

Combine it with my other addon Speedy Autoloot for a seemless fishing experience Speedy AutoLoot (https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/speedyautoloot)

Open AddOn Settings with /bf or /betterfishing or go to Options > AddOns > Better Fishing, you can enable Enhanced Sound or Double Click to cast there among other options.

Better Fishing allows you to Fish and Hook with a single keybind. It uses the Soft Targeting accessibility feature which lets you target NPCs and Objects (the fishing bobber is an object) with camera only and use the Interact key to interact with the target. This addon combines the features onto a single key. Double Click (with Right Click) to cast is also supported but has to be enabled via options (/bf or /betterfishing).

Note for Classic Era/TBC/Mists: The range of soft targeting is currently fixed and too low for fishing range, so a bobber cast too far away cannot be hooked via keybind and you will have to use your mouse so you may want to preferably use double click fishing.

Go to Settings > Keybindings > Better Fishing> Cast and Interact to set keybinds

How to Fish after binding the key:

- Press the key to start fishing

- Wait for the fishing sound

- Press the key to interact with the bobber

- Repeat

Did you know? You can use Controller Bindings to fish too!

/console GamePadEnable 1 to enable gamepad mode

/console GamePadEnable 0 to disable gamepad mode again

In the keybinding UI you can then bind your controller key, and use that to fish with, sit back and relax

GAME FLAVOUR

This is a retail (modern World of Warcraft) build. It will not work in the Classic clients, which run a different interface API.

INTERFACE VERSION

Built against game version 5.5.4, 12.1.0, 2.5.6, 1.15.9, 3.80.2, 12.1.5. After a patch, an addon that has not been updated is flagged out of date; most keep working, and the "Load out of date AddOns" checkbox on the character screen lets you try.

DEPENDENCIES

Some addons need a separate library addon (Ace3, LibStub and friends) that is not bundled. If the addon does not appear in the list in game, a missing dependency is the usual reason.

1. Quit World of Warcraft completely. The game reads the AddOns folder at launch and will overwrite settings for an addon added while it is running.

2. Download the archive with the button on this page and unzip it.

3. Move the folder — the one with the .toc file in it, not the zip's wrapper folder — into:

World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns

4. Start the game. On the character selection screen, click AddOns and check that it is listed and enabled.

IF IT DOES NOT APPEAR

Nine times out of ten the folder is nested one level too deep. Interface/AddOns/Thing/Thing/Thing.toc will not load; Interface/AddOns/Thing/Thing.toc will.

UPDATING

Delete the old folder before unzipping the new one. Unzipping over the top leaves files behind that the new version no longer expects.
