Improves performance by tweaking mob despawn rules. Say bye to pesky unintentional persistent mobs.
LET ME DESPAWN
Let Me Despawn (LMD) is a Minecraft mod designed to address entity lag issues by modifying the despawn mechanics for mobs that have picked up or equipped items.
Key Features
- Allows mobs with equipped items to despawn naturally
- Preserves dropped items when mobs despawn
- Configurable mob exclusion list
- Server-side functionality (not required on client)
Functionality
In vanilla Minecraft, mobs that pick up or equip items become persistent and do not despawn naturally. This behavior can significantly contribute to entity lag, especially in modded environments with increased mob variety and spawn rates.
LMD modifies the despawn check to allow these mobs to despawn naturally, like any other mob. To prevent item loss, any picked up or equipped items are dropped when the entity despawns.
Note: Mobs named with a name tag will still be prevented from despawning naturally.
Mobs added to the config will retain their vanilla behavior and not despawn after picking up items. All commands update the mob list in real-time, eliminating the need for game restarts or manual reloads.
Installation
This is a server-side mod and is not required on the client.

Mythiq.net hosts no files for it. The download button goes straight to the release file on cdn.modrinth.com, so you are downloading from the author's own host, not from a copy of ours.
The download count, rating and comments on this page start at zero and count Mythiq.net only. The source's own figures are not copied here — they measure a different site, and a number that cannot be checked against our own ledger is not worth printing.

MOD LOADER
This release is built for Bukkit, Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot. A mod built for one loader will not load under another — Fabric mods do not run on Forge, and vice versa.
GAME VERSION
Built for Minecraft 26.4-snapshot-5, 26.4-snapshot-4, 26.4-snapshot-3, 26.4-snapshot-2, 26.4-snapshot-1, 26.3. Minecraft mods are tied to an exact version: a 1.21.4 build will refuse to load on 1.21.5.
DEPENDENCIES
Check the author's listing for required libraries before you start the game — a missing dependency shows up as a crash on launch, not as a warning.
Installation
1. Install Bukkit for the Minecraft version you play, if you have not already.
2. Download the .jar with the button on this page. Do not unzip it — a mod jar is installed as it is.
4. Launch the game with the Bukkit profile selected.
ON A SERVER
Anything that changes world generation or gameplay has to be installed on the server as well as on every client. Client-side visual and interface mods do not.
UPDATING
Replace the old .jar rather than adding the new one beside it. Two versions of the same mod in the folder is a crash on launch.
