Q: Game crashes, halp!
A: Game can crash with or without mod, its in EA. But if you have have consistent crashes with specific mod installed do next:
1) set bUseUObjectArrayCache to false in the UE4SS-settings.ini file. 
2) install UE4SS signatures (see requirements while downloading mod)

Q: Game/save loads fine, but mod doesn't work as intended, halp!
A: Double check if you followed Installation instructions. If you sure you did:

Q: UE4SS 2.5.2 or 3.0.0?
A: Both work fine with my mods. I haven't seen the differences stability wise.

Q: Do I really need signatures for Palworld 0.1.5? People says they are not needed anymore.
A: Some mods will work without signatures, but some absolutely wont.

Mod Description
Vanilla ground mounts struggling to overcome even easiest obstacles. And steep terrain requires jump spam. With this mod, ground mount movement will be fluid yet realistic.

Installation
Version(s) from Main Files are more stable, but may not work for some combinations of mods. In that case try version(s) in Optional Files.

Steam:
Extract UE4SS_Xinput.zip (2.5.2 or 3.0.0) to Palworld\Pal\Binaries\Win64\ (Mods folder will appear inside Win64 folder)
Extract this mod to Palworld\Pal\Binaries\Win64\Mods (BetterRidingGroundMounts folder should be inside Mods folder)

You may also need to install UE4SS signatures by DRayX (UE4SS_Signatures folder should be inside Win64 folder).

In mods.txt add BetterRidingGroundMounts: 1 line. Check suggested load order in FAQ (for Main Files versions).

Gamepass:
Extract UE4SS_Xinput.zip (2.5.2 or 3.0.0) to ..\Users\...Appdata\Local\Pal\Saved\Config\WinGDK\ (Mods folder will appear inside WinGDK folder)
(As alternative, extracting to \XboxGames\Palworld\Content\Pal\Binaries\WinGDK\ may help).
Rename xinput1_3 to xinput1_4.
In the UE4SS-settings.ini file, set bUseUObjectArrayCache to false.
Extract this mod to ...\Users\...Appdata\Local\Pal\Saved\Config\WinGDK\Mods (BetterRidingGroundMounts folder should be inside Mods folder)

You may also need to install UE4SS signatures by DRayX (UE4SS_Signatures folder should be inside Win64 folder).

Uninstallation
Just remove BetterRidingGroundMounts folder in Mods.

Compatibility
Works on Steam and Gamepass.
May not work on Linux and Steam Deck.
Works on dedicated servers.

If game crashed on the start/load, try to set bUseUObjectArrayCache to false in the UE4SS-settings.ini file.

GAME VERSION

Listed against Palworld 1.0. Palworld updates frequently, and a pak built for an earlier build is the first thing to suspect after a patch.

CLIENT VS SERVER

Some of these mods are server-side — they are installed on the machine running the dedicated server (or the host's copy in co-op), not on every player's game. A server mod installed client-side does nothing, and vice versa; the author's page says which it is.

1. Download the archive with the button on this page and unzip it.

2. For a client pak mod, create the folder if needed and put the .pak in it:

steamapps\common\Palworld\Pal\Content\Paks\~mods

The tilde in ~mods is deliberate — it makes the engine load the folder last so the mod wins.

3. For a server mod, unzip it into the dedicated server's Pal folder and restart the server; players do not install anything.

4. UE4SS-based mods additionally need UE4SS installed into the game folder first — the author's page linked from here carries the current steps.

UPDATING

Delete the old .pak before adding the new one. Two builds of one mod loaded together is the usual cause of crashes at launch after an update.
