Plater Nameplates

Overview

Nameplates you can actually configure — colour by threat, cast bars that read at a glance, and scripting for anything else.

Plater replaces World of Warcraft's nameplates with something you can shape to what you actually need to see. For a tank that means threat state at a glance across a large pull; for a DPS it means knowing which target is not yours; for everyone it means cast bars that are readable in a crowded pack.

WHAT IT DOES

Full control over nameplate size, colour, text and layout, with separate profiles per role and per specialisation. Threat colouring that reflects the real threat state rather than a guess. Cast bars with interrupt tracking and colouring by whether you can stop it. Aura tracking on the plate itself.

THE SCRIPTING LAYER is what separates it from simpler nameplate addons: mod and script hooks let you change how a specific enemy is displayed under specific conditions, and the community publishes scripts for individual encounters through the addon's own import system.

By the same author as Details!, and profiles are shared between the two in the same way.

CONFLICTS WITH

Other nameplate addons — Threat Plates, Kui Nameplates. Only one can own the nameplates.

PROFILES AND SCRIPTS

Imported scripts run code inside your UI. Import from sources you trust, exactly as you would with any other addon.

Installation

THROUGH THE CURSEFORGE APP (recommended)

Install and update from the app.

MANUAL

1. Download from CurseForge.

2. Extract into Interface\AddOns for your client flavour.

3. Restart the game.

4. Type /plater to open the options.

SETTING IT UP

Start with a community profile for your role rather than the defaults. Plater has a great many options and the shipped profiles are a much faster route to something usable.

Make sure nameplates are actually turned on in the game's own interface options, and set the maximum nameplate distance there — Plater cannot show what the game is not drawing.
