Battle Pet BreedID displays the BreedID of pets in your journal, in battle, in chat links, and in AH tooltips.
Battle Pet BreedID is a standalone addon that will display the Breed of any pet in the following situations:
- In Battle
- In your Pet Journal's scroll list
- In your Pet Journal's pet description tooltips
- In Item tooltips
- In Chat Link tooltips
- In the "Collected ..." line (with BattlePetCount installed)
Theorycrafting is up to you... but if you know what stats you value most, now you can find them! To learn how the Breed ID affects your pets, go here: http://www.warcraftpets.com/wow-pet-battles/breeds/.
This addon uses the letter system by default (B/B for breed ID 3, etc), but if you want to switch to the number system used by other resources, just type "/breedid" or go to Interface->AddOns to open the Battle Pet BreedID options panel. You can change the format type at the top in the Dropdown box, along with over 20 other different options!
Notes on special breed results:
- If a pet's breed displays as "NEW", no base stat data is available for the pet yet. This usually only happens for pets introduced suddenly (like Blizzard Store pets or encrypted Holiday pets). I'll likely post a new update soon resolving the issue, as I am continually updating the addon with new base stat and breed data.
- If a pet's breed displays as "ERR" (or something similar), a bug has occurred. Please report the circumstances in the comments on CurseForge, and I'll try to resolve the issue (which is likely to be related to other addons).
- If a pet's breed displays as "???", this is not a bug. This addon works by taking the pet's raw stats (species, level, quality, health, power, and speed) and doing math to determine the breed based on known base stats (supplied by the addon). However, in some cases, 2 breeds can have identical health, power, and speed values while the pet is at level 1 (well, they really aren't identical under the hood, but because of rounding the decimal values, they appear identical to players and the API). The best way to solve this is to increase the level of the "???" pet to level 2. No conflicts exist past level 1, so it will resolve into the correct breed.
ABOUT THIS LISTING
This page describes Battle Pet BreedID by Simca. The description and screenshots are the author's own, imported from their listing on CurseForge on 3 October 2026: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/battle_pet_breedid
Mythiq.net hosts no files for it. The download button goes straight to the release file on edge.forgecdn.net, so you are downloading from the author's own host, not from a copy of ours.
The download count, rating and comments on this page start at zero and count Mythiq.net only. The source's own figures are not copied here — they measure a different site, and a number that cannot be checked against our own ledger is not worth printing.

Requirements
Game versions
5.5.4
12.1.0
GAME FLAVOUR
This is a Classic build. Retail and Classic run different interface APIs, and an addon built for one throws Lua errors on the other — check you are installing into the right client folder.
INTERFACE VERSION
Built against game version 5.5.4, 12.1.0. After a patch, an addon that has not been updated is flagged out of date; most keep working, and the "Load out of date AddOns" checkbox on the character screen lets you try.
DEPENDENCIES
Some addons need a separate library addon (Ace3, LibStub and friends) that is not bundled. If the addon does not appear in the list in game, a missing dependency is the usual reason.
Installation
1. Quit World of Warcraft completely. The game reads the AddOns folder at launch and will overwrite settings for an addon added while it is running.
2. Download the archive with the button on this page and unzip it.
3. Move the folder — the one with the .toc file in it, not the zip's wrapper folder — into:
World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns (or _classic_ for the current Classic expansion)
4. Start the game. On the character selection screen, click AddOns and check that it is listed and enabled.
IF IT DOES NOT APPEAR
Nine times out of ten the folder is nested one level too deep. Interface/AddOns/Thing/Thing/Thing.toc will not load; Interface/AddOns/Thing/Thing.toc will.
UPDATING
Delete the old folder before unzipping the new one. Unzipping over the top leaves files behind that the new version no longer expects.
