Replaces the third-person camera with a smoothed, fully configurable one — separate framing for combat, sneaking, horseback, bows and magic.
Skyrim's third-person camera is rigidly attached to the player and snaps. SmoothCam replaces it with an interpolated camera that follows, with independent offsets and distances for every state the player can be in: standing, walking, running, sprinting, sneaking, swimming, on horseback, in combat, aiming a bow, casting.
WHAT YOU CAN SET
Offset and distance per state, separate interpolation curves and speeds, over-the-shoulder framing with a shoulder swap, a crosshair that tracks where an arrow will actually land, camera collision with the world, and an optional third-person view during dialogue and killmoves.
It is an SKSE plugin with an in-game configuration menu, so nothing is edited in a plugin file and it conflicts with nothing that is not itself a camera mod.
The obvious caveat: it is a camera mod, so it does exactly one thing and it is entirely a matter of taste. The defaults are a reasonable over-the-shoulder setup, and the menu is where the actual work is.
ABOUT THIS LISTING
This page describes SmoothCam by mwilsnd. The description and screenshots are the author's own, imported from their listing on GitHub on 14 August 2026: https://github.com/mwilsnd/SkyrimSE-SmoothCam
Mythiq hosts no files for it. The download button goes straight to the release file on github.com, so you are downloading from the author's own host, not from a copy of ours.
The download count, rating and comments on this page start at zero and count Mythiq only. The source's own figures are not copied here — they measure a different site, and a number that cannot be checked against our own ledger is not worth printing.
Requirements
SKSE IS REQUIRED
And a build matching your game runtime.
ONE CAMERA MOD AT A TIME
Running SmoothCam alongside another camera overhaul gives you two things fighting for the same camera, and the result is jitter that looks like a bug in both.
THE MENU IS OPTIONAL BUT WANTED
The in-game configuration is provided through SKSE's own UI. Without it the defaults still apply; you just cannot change them in game.
Installation
1. Install SKSE.
2. Install SmoothCam with your mod manager.
3. Launch through SKSE and open the SmoothCam menu.
4. Pick a preset to start from and adjust the per-state offsets from there — the defaults for standing and combat are the two worth setting first.
