Opens the game's BSA and BA2 archives so you can look inside, preview textures and sounds, and extract exactly the file you need.
Nearly all of Skyrim's assets live inside BSA archives, and so do most large mods' — which is why a texture you want to replace or a mesh you want to check is usually not a file you can find in the Data folder. BSA Browser opens those archives and shows you what is in them.
It handles BSA and BA2 across the Bethesda line, previews textures (including the DDS formats the game actually uses) and plays back sounds, searches by filename across a whole archive, and extracts either one file or a whole folder tree.
This is the small tool that answers "which mod is that texture coming from" and "what did the original look like". It is read-only in the sense that matters: nothing here modifies your game.
ABOUT THIS LISTING
This page describes BSA Browser by AlexxEG. The description and screenshots are the author's own, imported from their listing on GitHub on 14 August 2026: https://github.com/AlexxEG/BSA_Browser
Mythiq hosts no files for it. The download button goes straight to the release file on github.com, so you are downloading from the author's own host, not from a copy of ours.
The download count, rating and comments on this page start at zero and count Mythiq only. The source's own figures are not copied here — they measure a different site, and a number that cannot be checked against our own ledger is not worth printing.
Requirements
WINDOWS
Windows only, and no installation required — the portable build is a folder you can put anywhere.
Installation
1. Download the portable archive and unpack it anywhere.
2. Run BSA Browser.exe and open any .bsa or .ba2 file, either from the game folder or from a mod.
This release downloads from github.com, not from us, so
there is no checksum to compare against. Scan the archive before you unpack it.
Tell us if something is wrong — a file that will not work, content taken from
someone else, or anything that looks unsafe. Reports go to our review team, not
to the author.
